Alec Head , Riverman was sent to the track in 1971 where he won thePrix Yacowlef and finished second in theCriterium de Maisons-Laffitte . The following year, he won the Group IIPrix Jean Prat plus twoGroup One races, thePrix d'Ispahan and thePoule d'Essai des Poulains . Sent to race inEngland , he notably ran third to Brigadier Gerard in July'sKing George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and second to him in October'sChampion Stakes .Champion sire
