Sherrie Lea

Sherrie Lea

Sherrie Lea (born July 11, 1963 as Sherrie Lea Laird) is a Scottish-born Canadian singer specializing in pop-dance music.

She started out as front woman and vocalist of the pop/rock duo “SULK”. Along with her musician/songwriting partner, Blair O'Halloran, they released 2 highly praised full-length CDs and one EP from 1996 to 2001. With several comparisons to the Eurythmics, Sherrie and Blair took first place honors in Toronto Mix 99 FM’s annual songwriting contest in 1999. In 2000, "SULK" released the highly praised "Only You" CD with Hi-Bias Records, also releasing the single of the same name.

In 2001, Sherrie embarked on a solo career as she was signed by Nick Fiorucci and Hi-Bias Records. Lea continued with her solo career under the guidance of Fiorucci and have since collaborated in songwriting, dealing with love themes and experimenting with a blend of electronic and live instrumentation. Her voice continues to draw comparisons to Eurythmics' Annie Lennox.

Lea's “Over My Head” was co-written with Bryan Adams and was featured on the top selling “Women & Song” (Volume 7) compilation from Warner Music Canada.

In 2005, she released her debut album “Spellbound”, with her first single “No Ordinary Love” making the top ten in radio and international DJ charts. “Spellbound”, the title track and second single rose to the number two top added song at HOT AC radio and "buzz" track pick from Amsterdam Dance Event 2005.

She has also more recently garnered media coverage due to self - induced speculation wherein she purports to be the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. Following years of alleged inexplicable flashbacks and suicidal feelings, she supposedly underwent eight years of treatment with Dr. Adrian Finkelstein, who and although this has yet to be given any crediility, after so - called extensive past life regression therapy "confirmed" his belief that she "must" be the '50's film star reincarnated to promote his book based on his sessions with Sherrie called "Marilyn Monroe Returns: The Healing of a Soul".
