"Alcithoe hedleyi" is a medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Volutidae, the volutes.

Range of distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand. It is found along the east coast of Northland in the North Island.

Habitat

This volute is found at depths of between 55 and 200 m.

hell description

The shell is similar to "Alcithoe haurakiensis", but much narrower, especially the body whorl, which is very little wider than the penultimate whorl.

The shell height is up to 61 mm, and the width is up to 18 mm.
