hell description
The shell is ovate, with a mamillate
protoconch of two and a half whorls, immersed in the first teleoconch whorl. Teleoconch of four whorls, sculptured with poorly developed axial ribs. It differs from "Alcithoe hedleyi " by having a broader, more squat shell, much less developed axial ornamentation, and a larger, mamillate protoconch.The shell colour is a reddish-tan background overlaid with zigzag dark brown parallel markings, and with three darker oblique broad bands visible on the
body whorl only.The shell height is up to 60 mm.
