"Alcithoe davegibbsi" is a species of medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Volutidae.

Range of distribution

This species is endemic to the north of the North Island of New Zealand.

Habitat

This volute lives at depths of about 43 m.

hell description

The shell is ovate, with a mamillate protoconch of two and a half whorls, immersed in the first teleoconch whorl. Teleoconch of four whorls, sculptured with poorly developed axial ribs. It differs from "Alcithoe hedleyi" by having a broader, more squat shell, much less developed axial ornamentation, and a larger, mamillate protoconch.

The shell colour is a reddish-tan background overlaid with zigzag dark brown parallel markings, and with three darker oblique broad bands visible on the body whorl only.

The shell height is up to 60 mm.
