Adolf Hamann (1885 – 1945) was an officer in the German Army ("
Wehrmacht Heer ") duringWorld War II .In 1944,
Lieutenant-General ("Generalleutnant ") Hamann was the Commander ("Commandant") ofBobruisk duringOperation Bagration . Operation Bagration ended in total victory for theSoviets and the GermanArmy Group Centre came close to being completely destroyed. Along with numerous other German generals, Hamann was captured by theSoviets .After the war Hamann was charged with committing war crimes against the civil populations of
Briansk andOrel while acting as their "Commandant". A Soviet military tribunal sitting in Briansk found him guilty on26 December 1945 and he was hanged later the same day.Command history
