Ancizar Lopez López (1913-2002) was a
Colombian politician, born in Armenia. He was a congressman, and as senator he developed the project for the creation of theQuindio Department , becoming its first governor when created. He also served for two periods as Governor of Quindío and was the Colombian ambassador toUnited Nations , among others.According to police reports, on April 11, 2002, he was kidnapped by common delinquents and sold to the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). For several months there was no news about his condition, but it was learned that he eventually died in an unknown location, probably due to complications of an unattendedkidney failure . His body was finally turned over by ELN Guerrillas through theRed Cross .
