d3dversion=Direct3D 11The Radeon R800 series is a set of GPUs currently scheduled for future release, developed by AMD graphics products division. The existence was spotted on a presentation slide from AMD Technology Analyst Day July 2007 as "R8xx".Rumoured design features
According to the latest ATI discrete graphics strategy, the first GPU cores of each generations (from R600 generation beyond) will be launched for enthusiast and performance segments, with small updates (presumably a die shrink at half lithographic nodes, minor architectural changes, improvements to performance and power consumption, as well as implementation of newer API support) to the architecture 6 months after original architectural release, meaning the first GPU cores will have a 6-month product cycle. For mainstream and value segments, the product cycle will instead be 12 months without architectural alterations. The codenamed
Radeon R700 line of GPUs was launched in June 2008, and was launched on a55 nm fabrication process [ja icon [http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2007/0705/kaigai370.htm PC Watch report] ] , while expecting that the Radeon R800 will be launched on a 40 nmFact|date=September 2008 fabrication process and compatible with the next major version ofDirectX API which is aimed at a 2009 launch.Similarly to R700, the high-end R800 will be dual-chip. It is also anticipated that UVD, or a refresh of it will be implemented in the core. While the GPU will also be anticipated to be fused with CPU core(s), to become a Fusion product. Report has that the R800 architecture specifications have been "closed" [ [http://theinquirer.net/?article=42297 The Inquirer report] , retrieved September 12, 2007] .
