Universal Energy Corporation is a Canadian traded company. UEG focused on long-term sales of residential, commercial, and industrial natural gas.
Controversy
Their aggressive door to door marketing tactics of fixed-rate plans have led to much debate e.g. in Toronto Several consumer groups have debated if UEG is more focussed on bottom-line profits vs public (consumer) interest. Companies such as Direct Energy, Summitt Energy, and CEG have been known to scam consumers into registering with a 5 year "fixed rate" for their natural gas prices, and many people have been known to end up paying much higher prices than the regular market price.
