Plot
Dhamaal is about four friends, Boman Contractor (Aashish Chaudhary), who lives a wealthy lifestyle with his eccentric dad, Nari (Asrani), who loves his antique car more than his son, and asks his son to leave when he damages the car; hot-headed Aditya (Arshad Warsi) and dim-witted Manav (Jaaved Jaffrey), orphaned brothers; and Roy (Ritesh Deshmukh), a trickster who wears a magnetized belt. All four are afflicted by the get-rich-quick virus. Their fortunes take a turn after they accidentally bump into a victim who tells them about a hidden treasure in Goa including 10 crore rupees. The group race toward Goa in Contractor's stolen car, little knowing that their plans will soon be foiled, albeit hilariously, by Police Inspector Kabir Nayak (Sanjay Dutt), who is angered at this Department for not appreciating his honesty, and is instead penalizing him by transferring him to Yavatmal; they all reach there at the same time, and decide it to share it equally. But, Inspector Kabir, at the right time, runs away with all the money. They all follow him and end up in a charity show. They all donate the money to the charity and feel proud for what they did.

Upon release, the film received universal critical acclaim. Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN rated the film 4 out of 5 saying, "there’s so much to like about Dhamaal". Sukanya Verma of Rediff gave it 3.4/5 saying, "The story with its baggage of generic turns and contrived twists seems all too familiar in making its even-now significant point. In addition, it seems a tad too long at its three hours running time. Mayank Shekhar of the Hindustan Times gave it 4.5/5 and stated, "This one’s about four friends on a chase. You wouldn't exactly call it a comedy, but other words are 'Crime' and 'Caper'." Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama rated the film 5/5 while stating, "Dhamaal was loved for its comedy in the first hour, but the whodunit in the second hour tapers the impact. It's a great time-pass flick which leaves you with a smile at the end." Noyon Jyoti Parasara of AOL rated the film 3.5/5 and stated, "This one surprised me, since I have only seen Indra Kumar do romance and horror, him up with a comedy is a total entertainer." Nikhat Kazmi of the Times of India gave it a rating of 4/5 saying, "Tune off a bit for the tedious middle and you could be in for some fun and frolic in Dhamaal".
