Justice is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 12,850 as of 2006.

Geography

Justice is located at coor dms|41|44|47|N|87|50|4|W|city (41.746382, -87.834402)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.6 km²), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.36%) is water.

A major road running through the town is Archer Avenue (Illinois Route 171); in addition, Justice lies close to Interstate 55 (also called the Stevenson expressway, after Adlai Stevenson) and Interstate 294 just east of LaGrange Road (U.S. Route 45).

Demographics

As of 2006, there were 12,850 people, 4,578 households, and 3,465 families residing in the village. The population density was 4,187.5 people per square mile (1,617.8/km²). There were 4,772 housing units at an average density of 1,638.9/sq mi (633.2/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 43.61% White, 41.14% African American, 0.19% Native American, 1.75% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.76% from other races, and 5.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.61% of the population, including 6.2% of Mexican descent.

The top four non-African American, non-Hispanic ancentries reported in Justice as of the 2000 census were Polish (24.2%), German (13.1%), Irish (11.8%) and Italian (5.7%). living together, 15.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.28.

In the village the population was spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $40,254, and the median income for a family was $32,323. Males had a median income of $40,340 versus $28,507 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,714. About 6.6% of families and 8.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 3.8% of those age 65 or over.

Government

Justice is in Illinois' 3rd congressional district.

Justice Park

Justice park has one of the most legendary basketball courts known to man they are known as simply Justice Courts. Countless games of 32 and full court games have been played there.

Justice is also known for the section 8 apartments along 88th ave.

Justice is the home for the famous Jimmy's drive in on Roberts Rd.

Public Education

Elementary and Middle school students attend schools in Indian Springs school District 109. High school students go on to Argo Community High School District 217 in neighboring Summit.
