The orangenacre mucket or orange-nacre mucket, scientific name Hamiota perovalis, is a species of freshwater mussel, an aquatic bivalve mollusk in the family Unionidae, the river mussels.
This species is endemic to Alabama and Mississippi in the United States.
This mussel is 5 to 9 centimeters long. It is yellow to reddish brown in color and has a pink or white nacre.[1]
This bivalve has an appendage that resembles a fish, which it uses to lure prey items.[2]
