AFL-CIO .2006 Election
Levin ran unsuccessfully for the 13th District Senate Seat in Oakland County, losing the election to former State Representative
John Pappageorge . The race was close with Pappageorge edging out Levin by only 776 votes; Levin actually led in the election returns until very late at night on Election Day, when the northwestern precincts of Troy (traditionally the most Republican parts of a Republican stronghold) reported overwhelmingly for Pappageorge. It was reported that Levin was hurt both by the fact that he had recently moved back to the Metro Detroit area from
Washington, DC and a perceivednepotism on behalf of some voters. Some speculation centered around whether Green Party candidate Kyle McBee's share of the vote can be attributed to a left-leaningprotest vote for these reasons.Election History
