website = [http://www.pubd.net www.pubd.net] Premier University, established in the year 2002 by Chittagong City Corporotion (CCC) which is a local govt. institution,has the advantages of receiving the best of both Private University and Public University Systems.It has no commercial aims.Its aim is to develop human qualities in every respect.Its fee structure is the lowest amongst the Private Universities.According to an international educational survey conducted by Australian govt. in 2007,it received a position of "A" catagory university.It attaches the paramount importance to the quality of education it imparts to the students.Any one who wants to enrich himself or herself in knowledge is welcome here.

Background Realizing the importance of higher education in the overall development of a nation, Chittagong City Corporation conceived the idea of establishing a center of excellence for higher education and learning in Chittagong and initiated needs assessment in 1998. Later on, a project proposal for Premier University was submitted to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in May 2001. The proposal was approved by the Government of Bangladesh under the Private University Act, 1992 (amended in 1998), and the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the curricula of Premier University. Thus this university came into being on December 5, 2001 and launched its academic programs in January, 2002.

Mission

The overall mission of the Premier University is to develop human resources through teaching, training, and guidance as well as creating knowledge conducive to the socio-economic realities of developing societies in general and of Bangladesh in particular.

Scope

The university will have the power and authority to provide education, training and degrees related to all areas of knowledge. However, initially the university will limit itself to offering four-year bachelors and two-year masters degree in a limited number of subjects. As the university grows and institutional capacity is built up, learning will be provided in a large number of disciplines. However the university will eventually offer doctoral programs and may also offer special courses tailored for people in the work force, diploma course etc.

CAMPUS & LOCATION

Chittagong is a picturesque city of vivid beauty with lush green hills and colorful landscapes. The Bay of Bengal, which is adjacent to the city on the western side, has made it a delightful place to live in. Centrally located near the Chittagong Medical College, Premier University is very close to the Chittagong zero point, the railway station, the central bus depot, and can be reached within 5 to 10 minutes from any of these points.

Premier University has four buildings. All the four buildings are centrally located. The 1st building is at Prabartak Circle(main campus), near the Chittagong Medical College.The 6th storied second building is very near to the 1st building. The third building is the most beautiful and architectural constructed .This building (CNG building) is situated just east of WASA office and north of Jamatul Falah mosque .The last but not the rest building is situated at Zamal khan with the Press Club.We are also planning to acquire and develop further at site of "Lake City " near Foy's lake.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

The university has credit transfer agreement with University of New Brunswick, Saint john, NB, Canada. Academic cooperation and collaboration is currently being negotiated with a number of well-known universities in the USA, UK and Australia.

INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

The goal of Premier University is to produce accomplished graduates for meeting the challenges of the competitive global market by imparting international standard education. Our motto is to act locally but think globally in order to keep our curricula up-to-date , Premier University constantly receives comments and feedbacks from an eight member International Academic Advisory Council chaired by Dr. Muhammed Kabir, Professor of Economics & Director of Graduate Programs, Applied Economics and Finance, University of New Brunswick, Saint John, NB, Canada. The other honorable members of the council include such widely acclaimed academics as: 1. FacultyPremier University is a university of centre of excellence for quality learning.From very beginning it serves the society by teaching and training with many faculties such as Engineering,Business administration,Arts etc.

The teaching staffs of the University consist of highly qualified full-time teachers having solid background in their respective disciplines from home and abroad.Besides the core faculty,the university has also invited and assured the services of part-time teachers drawn from others universities,business houses,government organizations and research bodies.Senior executives from Multinational Corporations and foreign banks also offer lectures on real life environment of their organizations.Occasionally,Premier University will also have visiting professors coming from foreign universities.
