Charles Quintana

Charles Quintana

Charles "Cueball" Quintana (born 1920) is a mobster who served as consiglieri from 1992 to 1998 with the Providence, Rhode Island Patriarca crime family.

Criminal career

Raised in the Boston suburb of Revere, Massachusetts, Quintana joined the Patriarca family at an early age. On June 5, 1989, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informant Angelo Mercurio told FBI agent John Connolly that Quintina had allied himself with Raymond Patriarca Jr. and Frank Salemme in a violent internal feud against a rival faction headed by Robert Carozza, Joseph Russo and Vincent Ferrara. Mercurio added that Salemme, Quintina and underboss William Grasso intended to kill Ferrara if the opportunity arose. On October 29, 1989, Quintina and 17 known Patriarca family members were recorded by the FBI while attending a Mafia induction ceremony in Medford, Massachusetts. The intercepted communications establish that Patriarca Jr., was boss of the Patriarca Family, Joseph Russo was consigliere and Ferrara, Carrozza, Mathew Guglielmetti, DiGiacomo and Quintina were caporegimes. In 1998, the 78 year-old Quintana, underboss Alexander “Sonny Boy” Rizzo, Pryce Quintana and Fred Champa were indicted for illegal gambling, racketeering and extortion. Following a plea agreement, the presiding judge sentenced Quintana to 18 months in prison. After his release, Quintana reportedly retired from active participation in criminal activity.
