- Lakenvelder (chicken)
Lakenvelders are a breed of
chicken developed in the 1830’s in the Netherlands. It was admitted to theAmerican Poultry Association ’sStandard of Perfection in 1939. Characteristics of the breed are black head and tail, white body, white skin and slate colored legs. The Lakenvelder is a flighty breed that has a small body and lays a white egg. They are in the Continental class forAmerican Poultry Association showing purposes and are listed as threatened by theAmerican Livestock Breeds Conservancy .References
