Hassan Wirajuda (born
July 9 ,1948 inTangerang ,Banten ) is theforeign minister ofIndonesia since2001 . Alawyer by training and adiplomat by choice, Wirajuda has held several important posts including Director-General of Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (July2000 - August2001 ), Ambassador and Permanent Representative to theUnited Nations and other international organizations in Geneva (December1998 - July2000 ), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Egypt (October 1997 - December1998 ), and Director of International Organizations of the Department of Foreign Affairs (1993 -1997 ). Doctor of Juridical Science inInternational Law from theUniversity of Virginia School of Law (1988 ), a Master of Law (LL.M) fromHarvard University School of Law (1985 ), and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) from theFletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (1984 ). In1971 , he graduated from the Faculty of Law of theUniversity of Indonesia and in1976 , he spent a year atOxford University in theUnited Kingdom earning a Certificate in Diplomacy.Notes
