Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan

Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan Abbassi, commonly known as Sardar Atikq, is a Kashmir (AJK) politician from Azad Kashmir and President of the political party by the name of Muslim Conference. He was elected as Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 24th July 2006.

Personal profile

Background

He is the son of Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, the former President and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

He was born in 21st January, 1955 at Ghaziabad, Dhirkot, District Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Education

He holds Masters Degree in International Relations. He has studied the Arabic Language for two years at Madina University, Saudi Arabia.

International Achievements

Ten points proposal presented before the United Nations, Organization of Islamic States Foreign Minister Conference Contact Group at the United Nations, on September 20-25, 2006 over Kashmir issue were adopted by the annual coordinating meeting of the 57 member countries of OIC.

He led many political and diplomatic missions on sensitive regional issues to the United Nations, Middle East, Europe, The United States of America, and Asia.POV-statement|date=July 2008

There is strong criticism among Kashmiris against the numerous foreign visits of Sardar Atique, costing huge sums from the national treasury, at a time when the people affected by the devastating earthquake of October 8,2005 have not been facilitated.

Sardar Khan's son has moved to the United States and is now living in New Jersey along with his wife.
