Arlanda Express

Arlanda Express is an airport rail link connecting Stockholm Central Station with Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Sweden. The cruising speed of the trains is convert|200|km/h|mph|0|lk=on and the journey takes 20 minutes. Arlanda Express is operated by A-Train, which gained a concession from the state of 30 years after completion of the railway line in 1999.

The company operates seven X3 electric multiple units on a route that travels on two rail lines, the Norra Stambanan and the Arlandabanan. The former, from Stockholm C to Skavstaby, is owned by Banverket, while the latter is owned by the state, although it was built by A-Train. The government's motivation for building the rail link was to facilitate future traffic growth at Arlanda, where a third runway was being built, while limiting the total emissions of the airport to the environment. Electric trains were chosen because they are nearly emission-free vehicles.

A third station, Arlanda Central, is served by the national railway operator SJ's long-distance routes and Upplands Lokaltrafik's "Upptåget" trains, which connect it with Uppsala and the north, and with the Stockholm commuter rail system.
