The camouflage grouper ("Epinephelus polyphekadion") is a species of fish in the Serranidae family. It is found in American Samoa, Australia, British Indian Ocean Territory, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kiribati, Madagascar, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mozambique, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, the Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Taiwan, Tanzania, Tonga, Tuvalu, United States Minor Outlying Islands, and Vanuatu. Its natural habitats are open seas, shallow seas, subtidal aquatic beds, coral reefs, rocky shores, and coastal saline lagoons. It is threatened by habitat loss.
