She hails all the way from UK was a
Indipop star in the 90s. Vibha Sharma made forays into Indian Popdom with her debut album "Mehandi" (2000) which was warmly accepted by the music lovers. Its title song "Mehandi Lagaoongi Main" became a favorite for its melody and charm.Despite having stayed in London all her life, Vibha has always had a great liking for Indian music. But she never thought of taking music seriously until she won a singing competition in which more than 700 Indians from all over Europe had participated. As a result she took to learning Indian classical music under the tutelage of Parshottam Kapila in London, and later on, when she came to India she continued her training under the guidance of Pt Ajay Pohankar.
Once her vocals were honed to a level respectable enough to wield a microphone, she began hobnobbing with Bollywood's music directors. The first one to recognize her singing talent was
Anu Malik , who, once having heard her in London, offered her to sing for two songs in "Ishq"(1997), Bulandi, Hadh Kar Di Apne, and Kamal Hassan's controversial film Hey Ram. Vibha did some more playback singing before cutting her own private album withAnand Raj Anand . She also sang a Tamil song for Kartik Raja, son of Illyaraja which went to No.1 in the South of India, Inde Siripinai.Vibha Sharma's full name is Alyssia Vibha Sharma. She has gone on to continue her singing career under the name of Alyssia Sharma in UK, working with renowned Punjabi DJ's, and producers Panjabi Hit Squad releasing an album self titled Alyssia which proved to be 1 of the top 5 best-selling albums of the year. Three songs of the album went to the No.1 spot on Asian radio stations around UK. Alyssia has released videos for two of the tracks on her album, Deewana and Tera Pyar Soneya Veh and is featuring on Ms.Scandalous' new album and video, due for release in the latter part of 2008, AAG.
