Remi Nicole (born April 6, 1983) is an English singer-songwriter who was born and lives in North London. She has lived in Holloway, Islington, Highgate, Finsbury Park, Tufnell Park and Highbury. Her debut album My Conscience & I was released later that year.

Background

Nicole has a mixed background of Austrian, Trinidadian, and English heritage. She started performing officially in October 2006, and gained recognition in the UK after her song "Go Mr Sunshine" was first played on BBC Radio 1 in August 2007.

Music career

Nicole signed her first record deal in late 2006 with Island Records, and released her first single "Fed Up" in May 2007. Her style is described as Indie and Acoustic and has gained some airtime on Radio 1. Nicole's second single, "Go Mr. Sunshine", was released for download on August 13th 2007, and was officially released on the August 20th. It reached number 57 in the UK singles chart, but many believe it would have been a bigger hit if the weather was better during that summer (2007 was one of the wettest summers on record in the UK).

Her third single "Rock'n'Roll" was released digitally on November 5th, with the CD release on November 26th.

Nicole's debut album My Conscience & I was released on December 3rd 2007.

Also in December, her cover of the song "Teenage Kicks" featured in the film St Trinian's and on its .

The 4th single from "My Conscience and I" was the ballad "Light's out" in March 2008.

Nicole and Island Records recently confirmed on both her official myspace and website that Nicole is hard at work writing and recording her second studio album. She is working with a range of producers, frequently travelling from London to America to collaborate after her label were impressed with early demo's recorded there. No release date is currently set, though it is expected in 2009.

TV appearances

Nicole has appeared on TV many times mainly on E4 and Channel 4 on the show Freshly Squeezed as well as having air play on these channels. She has also assisted Nick Grimshaw in presenting the show. Nicole has also performed at T4 on the Beach and in the studio at the Glastonbury festival.
