Phoenix, Arizona (PVHS), was the first of five high schools built in theParadise Valley Unified School District . Paradise Valley High School opened in1957 . The school's athletic teams are reffered as the Trojans. Featuring an A/B Block Schedule, Paradise Valley teaches a wide selection of courses in Athletics, Arts, and Technology. Also, the football program installed one of the first artificial turfs in the state as its main football, soccer and track field.In 2007, PVHS celebrated its "50th Year Of Excellence!"

INSTILLING A PASSION FOR LIFE-LONG LEARNING
PHILOSOPHY:The faculty and staff of Paradise Valley High School believe that their school is the heart of the changing,diverse, community. Teaching and learning is the heart of their school’s philosophical approachto education. PVHS' mission is to instill among their students a passion for life-long learning. Their studentsmust first think well, and then be able to articulate those thoughts both in writing and speaking. Theirrelevant and diverse curricula is geared to support this premise. In order to contribute significantly to theircommunity, their students must strive to broaden their perspective, understand one another, andharmoniously enrich each other’s lives.
STRUCTURE:PVHS is on a 4 X 4 Block Schedule with 85 minute classes. Teachers instruct six classes a year, staycurrent on teaching strategies, and use varied instructional approaches during their 85 minute class.
OBJECTIVES:The following objectives serve to support and amplify this philosophy on a daily basis:
1. To celebrate, explore and share the diverse culture of this community.
2. To instill a strong foundation for further education in both the vocational and academic arenas.
3. To foster and maintain a commitment to excellence at every level of learning.
4. To promote civic respect, pride and responsibility.
5. To promote the importance of personal respect and integrity, positive relationships, and fillingone’s potential.
6. To encourage active participation in activities that strengthen the mind, body and sense of self.
7. To provide experiences that stimulate one’s adaptation to the rapid advancements in ourtechnologically based society.
8. To ensure that students see relevance in their learning through lesson applications andinterdisciplinary instruction.
9. To foster cooperation among students through cooperative learning and among staff, parentsand community through the site council leadership.
10. To focus on academics and North Central Accreditation goals i.e., vocabulary program,literacy teaching strategies, aligning assessments, collecting data, etc.ex Scandal
In May 2007, Jennifer Mally, a teacher and cheerleading coach at the school, was arrested and charged with 17 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor for having an 6-month sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. She plead guilty on March 14th, 2008, to three of the counts, and was sentenced to six months in prison.
Mrs. Mally is now serving out her time as a house arrest inmate, not allowed to visit or be around minors under the age of 18 years. There were other students who were involved in sexual misconduct with the teacher, though they were over the legal age of 18 at the time of intercourse.
