Jasbir Singh Cheema

Jasbir Singh Cheema is a Canadian television personality and politician.

In the 2004 federal election, he ran for and won the Conservative Party of Canada nomination against Chuck Cadman, the sitting Member of Parliament for the riding of Surrey North. Cadman had been elected to Parliament as a Canadian Alliance party candidate in the 2000 election. The CA had merged with the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada to form the new Conservative Party in 2003.

After losing the nomination to Cheema, Cadman ran as an independent candidate and easily won reelection; Cheema came in fourth behind Cadman and the New Democratic and Liberal candidates.

Cheema anchored the Punjabi newscast on Vancouver television station Channel M from 2003 until 2004.
