The relief of the upland developed since thePaleogene under climatic conditions changing considerably. Its main component is apeneplain crowned bymonadnock s, rocky masses that resisted erosion, generated as hard rock onUpper Jurassic buildup surrounded by less resistant bedded limestone of the same age.
