The School District of Superior is the 23rd largest school district in Wisconsin. The district utilizes about convert|250|acre|km2 of land, and it is one of the largest employers in Douglas County, Wisconsin. The District is divided into departments, including the Buildings and Grounds, Business Office, Curriculum/Instruction, Food Service, Health, Indian Education, Information Technology, Special Education, Student Services, Superintendent, and Transportation departments. The district operates in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. It also operates in accordance to bylaws which the School Board of the School District of Superior has established. [ [http://kuws.fm/newsarchive_0.html KUWS News Archive - 2005 ] ] The district also has a random drug testing policy that requires students who are in extra curricular activities or parking on school grounds to enter their name into a pool to be randomly and (without suspicion) be possibly selected to complete a urine drug test. Also, students may choose to become a volunteer member of the drug testing pool in a program called Pledgemakers.
