In Lou Holtz's third year as the Razorback's head coach, Arkansas ended the 1979 season ranked 8th in the AP Poll, and 9th in the UP Poll.

Individual Performance

Offensive tackle Greg Kolenda was a Consensus All-American for the Razorbacks in 1979. ["Consensus All Americans." [http://www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0746966.html 1979] Retrieved on July 31 2007.] Placekicker Ish Ordonez led the nation in field goals per game, with 1.64. He hit 18 of 22 FG on the season, for a 82% average.

Team Performance

Arkansas was tied for 6th in scoring defense in the 1979 season, giving up 108 points in 11 games (9.8 ppg). McNeese State was the other program that held this mark.
