MadCap Software is an American computer software firm headquartered in San Diego, California. The firm is best known for producing various help authoring tools. It was the subject of a good deal of publicity within the user assistance community when several principal managers, software engineers, and support personnel broke away from rival firms such as Adobe Systems and Macromedia to found MadCap Software.

MadCap produces Flare, a Help authoring tool that generates different outputs like WebHelp and Microsoft Compiled HTML Help, Blaze, a publishing tool that competes with Adobe FrameMaker, Mimic, a tool for recording tutorials and software simulations, Lingo, a translation tool, Capture, a screen capture tool, and Echo, an audio editing tool. MadCap's authoring tools are all based on an XML standard.
