Romans-sur-Isère or Romans (Occitan: "Romans d'Isèra") is a commune in the Drôme department in southeastern France.

Geography

Romans-sur-Isère is located on the Isère River, 18 km northeast from Valence. With the neighboring town of Bourg-de-Péage, there are more than 50,000 inhabitants in the urban area.

Romans is not far from the Vercors; it takes only 20 minutes by car.

There is a market in the town centre on Friday and Sunday mornings where many regional products are sold, especially fruit during the summer.

Transportation

Access to the town is easy by the highway between Valence and Grenoble which is free between Valence and Romans, and also by the TGV (high-speed train). There's a TGV station between Valence and Romans, and so it takes at least two hours and twelve minutes to go from Paris to the station, and then approximately ten minutes further by car.
