Federal Institute of Science And Technology commonly known as FISAT is located in Hormis Nagar, Mookkannoor,Angamaly. The Campus is at Hormis Nagar, Mookkannoor, a rustic village on the outskirts of Angamaly Town. A vast stretch of land comprising 30 acres forms the campus. Mookkannoor being the birthplace of Late K. P. Hormis, the great visionary and founder of Federal Bank, holds an emotional bondage with each and every member of the Federal family and its well-wishers. Therefore the campus is named Hormis Nagar. With its scenic beauty and virgin surroundings, this typical Kerala Village is expected to provide proper ambiance for the prestigious academic institution.This Engineering College is a self - financing institution established and managed by the Federal Bank Officers Association Educational Society (FBOAES).

Academics

The following courses in FISAT are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and sanctioned by the Government of Kerala, leading to the Degree of the Mahathma Gandhi University. The college has coveted certification to its credit.

* Computer Science & Engineering (120 seats).
* Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (60 seats).

The Post Graduate Courses offered are

* Master of Business Administration (60 seats).
* Master of Computer Applications (60 seats).

Governance

Federal Institute of Science And Technology is administered by the Federal Bank Officers Association Educational Society (FBOAES) - an initiative of the Federal Bank Officers Association (FBOA, the sole representative body of the entire officers in The Federal Bank with 35 years of yeomen services to its credit. The society has been formed with the aim of establishing a Center of Excellence for professional studies.

The Governing body members

* Mr. P V Mathew, is the Chairman of the Governing Body of the College. He is the Secretary of FBOAES as well as the General Secretary of Federal Bank Officers Association.
* Mr. V K Prasad, is the President of FBOAES. He is also the President of Federal Bank Officers' Association
* Mr. E.K Rajavarma is the Treasurer of FBOAES as well as Federal Bank Officers' Association

The society enjoys the whole- hearted patronage of officers of Federal Bank, which is having the largest branch network among the Private Sector Banks in the Country.

The society has enlisted the support of many luminaries from the fields of education, technology, administration and banking to guide the functioning of FISAT. The Advisory Board of the Society consists of eminent personalities with proven capabilities.

Infrastructure & Facilities

The college master plan envisages a three storeyed main building consisting of a central block with college office, central library, main computer centre, office of the principal, conference hall, seminar halls, etc housed in it; and two major side building complexes housing all the class rooms, drawing halls, tutorial halls, departmental offices, libraries and computer centers.

The laboratory building complexes, boys and girls hostels, staff quarters, college canteen, stadium with all modern facilities for sports and games, gymnasium, Internet Cafe, language lab, road network, electric power generating system etc are available.

The south side building complex has been completed at the time of startup of the college in September 2002. This building complex is sufficient to meet the requirements of all class rooms, drawing halls etc. The central block have been completed with Central Library, College office, Office of Principal and Chairman .

The laboratory and workshop building complexes for Electrical Engg, Electronics Engg , Computer Engg, Instrumentation Engg, Civil & Mechanical Engg have all been constructed according to prevailing standards and are fully operational. Two large building complexes have been built outside the main building for the above purposes. A large auditorium with seating capacity for 800 is in use with high-tech audio equipments and stage arrangements. Air-conditioned Seminar halls with LCD projector and OHP are available for various technical programs.

Library

FISAT Library & Information Centre is having a collection of around 24000 books under 5500 different titles. The well balanced collection includes Books, Periodicals, DVDs, CD-ROMs, Floppy discs and other non-book materials. FISAT now subscribes to about 83 IEEE journels and 183 national/international periodicals.Our digital library collection includes 1000 CD-ROMs and 200 Floppy Discs. Other facilities in the library includes Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Broadband Internet facility, Smart Card based transactions, Online Search, Reservation, Cancellation etc.

Computer Centre

The computer centre is fully equipped with nearly 400 Pentium IV computers in various Labs and 35 licensed software. The computers are networked with structured cabling and supplied with 65 KVA and 15 KVA UPS power. All the Labs are climate controlled.

Campus Automation

FISAT has adopted total automation as a basic need for the most efficient management of the college administration. The Campus Dimension Software Package which includes modules for Academics, Library, Administration, Accounts, Store etc are installed and all are integrated to a single database. A web-based service acts as an interactive tool for parents, teacher, students and the campus administration centres for information exchange and thus links up the various departments and management functions of the college.

Arrangements for online fee payment through 'Fed Net' in collaboration with Federal Bank has also been made. FISAT also has a Linux based email serving running to give customized email ID's to the staff and students.

TeN Acado

A web based e-learning platform, Ten Acado, in collaboration with Transversal eNetworks Pvt. Ltd. has been launched in FISAT. This software has a broad range of tools for course development, deployments and management programs as also facilities for digital library and collaborative work with prestigious institutions.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel for boys and girls with all amentities have been provided inside the college campus.The gents' hostel has excellent facilities and can accommodate over 300 inmates. The ladies' hostel can accommodate 200 inmates. Both the hostels are provided with spacious mess halls and modern kitchens. Effective waste disposal using biogas and waste water treatment plants ensures environment protection.

Placement and Training

Students of the first batch passed out in 2006 are so far placed in over 36 companies and industries like Infosys, Accenture, Reliance, CTS, Tata Elxsi, Honeywell, Wipro, HCL, Bosch, IBS Software services, US Technologies, Satyam, IGate, L&T, Indian Airlines, Godrej Infotech etc. The placement cell arranges regular campus interviews by various software and other industries. Well-oriented career guidance program with emphasis for good performance in competitive examinations, group discussions and interviews is operational. Experts in the respective fields are invited to conduct such programs. Students are required to undergo inter-semester short-term industrial training for which necessary assistance provided.

Admissions

Candidates for admission to the B.Tech degree courses are required to possess the following qualifications

=Eligibility= The candidate shall have passed the higher secondary examination of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent there to by the Mahathma Gandhi University.Regular candidate shall have secured a minimum 50% marks in Mathematics and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.The candidates shall also satisfy the conditions regarding physical fitness as may be prescribed by the University.
