- Hiroshima Domain
Hiroshima Domain (広島藩, "-han") was a "han", or feudal domain, of
Edo period Japan . Based atHiroshima castle in the city ofHiroshima , the domain encompassedAki province and parts of neighboringBingo province .Following the
battle of Sekigahara in 1600, the "han" was established withFukushima Masanori as its "daimyō " (feudal lord). However, nineteen years later, Hiroshima castle suffered extensive flood damage and Fukushima repaired it in violation of theTokugawa shogunate 's laws on the construction and repair of castles (see "buke shohatto "). The shogunate then ordered Fukushima toKawanakajima Domain , and awarded Hiroshima to theAsano clan , who ruled it for the remainder of the Edo period, the domain being dismantled along with all the others in 1871."Daimyō" of Hiroshima
