Syamsul Bachri Chaeruddin (born in Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan, 9 February 1983) is an Indonesian footballer, he normally plays as a midfielder and his height is 168 cm. Because of his loyalty, he was recognized as the icon for his club, PSM Makassar.

He played for PSM Makassar in the 2005 AFC Champions League group stage, where he scored one goal.[1]

He plays for the Indonesia national football team. Syamsul is one of the best defensive midfielder in his country with his aggression and courageus playing style, despite his lack of size. First International debut in senior national team squad at friendly match for Indonesia against Malaysia in 12 March 2004 and Indonesia draw 0-0 in this game. At Asian Cup 2007 he playing 3 times when Indonesia win 2-1 from Bahrain (he subtitutioned Mahyadi Panggabean was injured), lose 1-2 from Saudi Arabia and lose 0-1 from South Korea at last game in group D.
