PROGNOZ was founded as the result of a
Soviet -era collaboration between the Russian Academy of Science and the Ministry of the Economy. In 1987, a team of economists and scientists from the Academy’s Institute of Economics gathered at Perm State University to conduct a series of economic forecasting projects for the Ministry. Four years later, after the establishment of the Russian Federation opened the national economy, one of these economists, Dmitry L. Andrianov, founded PROGNOZ to address the need for business software that analyzed and forecast economic information. (Andrianov continues to serve as PROGNOZ’s CEO today). A year later, in 1992, PROGNOZ introduced the PROGNOZ Analytical Suite, a software application for statistical analysis and econometric modeling, and a predecessor to the PROGNOZ 5 Platform. In 2001, PROGNOZ expanded its operations from Perm and opened an office in Moscow. This expansion continued in 2006 with offices in Beijing, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Kiev and other locations.
