- List of Magical Items in Fablehaven
This is a list of the magical items in the fictional Fablehaven series.
Magical Milk
Magical Milk is probably the most used item in the series. Drinking the milk gives you the ability to see the magical creatures in their true form. If one does not drink the milk, magical creatures will appear as natural creatures such as Satyrs appear as goats, Centaurs appear as horses, and Fairies appear as butterflies, humming birds, ladybugs, or other ordinary insects. The milk comes from special magical animals that create it.
Fablehaven has a magical milch cow, whose name is Viola. She is around 400 years old and over 40 feet tall. Another, even bigger cow, named Mazy, is located at the Lost Mesa preserve in Arizona. One more similar animal is an ancient walrus that produces butter that has the same eye opening effect.ecret Artifacts
There are five magical and ancient artifacts that are hidden on the five secret preserves. Fablehaven is one of the hidden preserves. The quest in "Rise of the Evening Star" is to recover the artifact on Fablehaven. The five artifacts are described as:
:*One has complete control of time. - "The Chronometer":*One has complete control over space.:*One can bestow unlimited sight.:*One can heal any ailment. - "The Sands of Sanctity":*One can bestow immortality.
So far, in the series, we have learned the following:
First Artifact: In Warren and Kendra retrieve an artifact from the Inverted Tower. Patton Burgess identified it as "The Sands of Sanctity". This artifact, when charged by Kendra, fills with magical sand that heals any physical ailment. It is in the form of a teapot shaped like a cat, and poured golden healing dust. It was guarded by a monster cat that killed one character and seriously wounded several others. Once the guardian was defeated, the artifact completely healed those who were still alive, but couldn't bring the dead back to life.
Second Artifact: In Kendra and Warren learn that the artifact at Lost Mesa was moved to Fablehaven by Patton Burgess. Eventually, Seth finds it in the Abandoned Mansion on the property. It is essentially a golden sphere about a foot in diameter, and covered with various buttons and dials. After Seth pushes a random button, Patton Burgess travels forward in time, and helps Kendra and Seth to overcome the Shadow Plague. He calls the device "The Chronometer" and explains that this artifact had power over time, and has many functions, but he has yet to discover all of the possibilities.
The three remaining artifacts are located on the final three secret preserves in Brazil, Australia, and one location still unknown.
Wands Only two kinds of wand are in Fablehaven. They are only used in . One of them makes a light if you hold it up high enough. The other wand affects gravity's hold on you, depending on how you hold the wand. No wands in the series are used for spells.
Potions The only source of potions in the Fablehaven series is Tanu or Tanugatoa. Some of those potions can make you shrink, and some can make you tall. some other potions effect the characters emotions. Kendra and Seth use a potion to make you smaller to get through the brownie doors and into the house. Another potion that is used frequently throughout the books is a gaseous potion, which causes the drinker to become immaterial, like mist or smoke. This potion is used by Warren in the inverted tower to stop the loss of blood and keep him alive (he is gravely injured). Later, the same potion is taken by Tanu to help him escape from dark fairies. Seth also drinks the potion twice, once so he can escape from the dark version of Newel the
satyr , and another time to sneak out of the house without being stopped by Hugo the golem and Mendigo the limberjack.Magic Silver Ball
To demonstrate the power of a distractor spell, Coulter shows Kendra and Seth a silver ball, about the size of a baseball. With the distractor spell it is very hard to grab because it always makes you focus on something else. The only people in the book that can retrieve the ball are the Kendra and Coulter; Kendra, because ever since becoming fairykind, she is immune to mind control spells, and Coutler because he has practiced concentrating on something next to the ball but keep the ball in the back of his mind. Once he is focusing on something near the ball, and he glimpses the ball, he snatches it before becoming distracted.
Magic Cocoon
The Magic Cocoon is a item used by seth. The
cocoon is a shield that must be eaten to be used. First you put thecocoon in your mouth and bite down hard, the cocoon instantly expands and creats your owncocoon . You can only use it one time but it is still very helpful. The inner part of the cocoon you can eat. oxygen is also filtered into thecocoon . Once used you can stay in it for at least a couple months at a time.Seth Sorenson uses one that was handed to him by Coulter when he confronted the revenant. He was later devoured by Olloch, but didn't die, but yet still satisfied Olloch's hunger to devour the one with the mark. He went in one end and out the oMagic Knots
Magic knots have their first appearance in the first book. These knots keep Murial the witch and Bahumat the demon captive, but can be untied with a blow upon them, while saying "Of my own free will, I sever this knot". The primary reason anyone would untie a knot would be that once untied, the one held captive by the knot can manipulate the magic that was released from the knot to grant the untier a wish.
The Fairy Queen's Statue
The Fairy Queen's statue is a statue that is very small that first appear in the first book. The statue tells Kendra to get many items in a bowl and give it to her. She does so and the Fairy Queen orders a whole army of human size fairies to come and help Kendra. Th statue then appears in and tells Kendra where the plague is coming from. But the statue gets destroyed and its energy forms a pebble filled with light energy that needs to be touched to the nail to stop the plague.
Umite Wax Markers and Candles
Umite Wax markers and candles are made from wax made by Umites. Umites are sprites that live in the rain-forest in hive-like colonies and make
honey andwax like bees. Their wax is used to make candles and markers. If you write with a marker made of their wax, you can't wipe it off, and you can only see what you wrote in the light of one of the candles made from their wax. Vanessa gives a set to Kendra, and they use them to write secret messages to each other as a plot element of the story. Also, in the Journal of Secrets, Patton Burgess wrote with umite wax.The Golden Mask
The Golden Mask is used by the captain of the Knights of Dawn. The Golden mask can see through all the silver masks, revealing their identity.
The Copper Rod
The Sphinx, testing Kendra's new abilities, had her recharge a pair of magical copper rods. Once recharged, they allowed the holders to switch places. The Sphinx used it at the end of "Grip of the Shadow Plague" to escape the Knights of the Dawn.
The Rain Stick
First seen on top of Lost Mesa, being used by a
kachina or a lean shaggy man with the head of a coyote. He was using it to create stormy weather during the monsoon season. After being attacked by Gavin, the kachina dropped the stick, which was in the form of a long staff with feathers and rattles attached to it. Gavin let Kendra know it was her souvenir. Back in Fablehaven, Coulter tested the stick and discovered it to truly be a magical weather stick, which can create stormy weather from a clear blue sky just by shaking it. He told Kendra of its power and value. It is assumed that it will be a key item in future books.External links
