Lael Louisiana Timberlake Wertenbaker (born 1944) is an America-born British playwright.

Biography

Wertenbaker was born in New York City, New York to Charles Wertenbaker, a foreign correspondent for "Time" magazine, and Lael Tucker, an author. She grew up in the Basque Country of France near Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Her breakthrough play, "Our Country's Good" is an adaptation of a book by Thomas Keneally and was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1988 [http://www.contemporarywriters.com/authors/?p=auth138] .
