Larry Glover

Larry Glover is an American sportscaster, and is the former play-by-play voice of the South Atlantic League's Lexington Legends. He served as the team's Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations during his time with the team, and in addition was the team's official scorer. A native of Hawesville, Kentucky, Larry began his broadcasting career when he correctly picked Duke to defeat Kentucky in the 1992 Elite Eight, thus winning a contest on a Lexington sports radio program. He was permitted to host his own show as a result, and eventually came to pilot Sunday Sports Central, a post he held for nine years. Larry has said that his favorite line from his call of Joe Mikulik's on-field meltdown was, "He (Mikulik) can expect a fine." He also commented that the line was "the greatest understatement of all-time."

Larry's beverage of choice is Diet Mountain Dew, and he routinely gets "all jacked up" as he indulges in the soft drink. His favorite television show is 24. He was introduced to the show by the Director/Producer for the Legends, Lee Peters. At first he resisted, claiming he wasn't a very big Kiefer Sutherland fan, but he soon caved. He eventually went on a now infamous 24 binge, watching 13 consecutive hours of the show during a bus ride to Lakewood, New Jersey. His favorite song is "Brass in Pocket" by The Pretenders, and his favorite spice is rosemary. He's always believed that Ralph Lauren polo clothes are well worth the price, because they're so well made----yet he has never worn argyle socks.

In a bit of a coup, his favorite author is Irish-American Pat Conroy. His favorite college football team is the Southern Cal Trojans, but his least favorite city in the U.S. is Gallup, New Mexico. He really enjoys a good potato soup. Finally, nothing is more painful to Larry than a hangnail. Larry is an alumnus of the University of Kentucky, and claims to "have become comfortably alum"--an ambiguously pathetic play on the Pink Floyd song "Comfortably Numb."
