"Cathorops" is a genus of catfishes (order Siluriformes) of the family Ariidae.

"Cathorops" is a strongly supported clade of this family. It consists a natural group in which the monophyly is well-defined by morphological and molecular evidence. The genus probably includes several unrecognized species from both American coasts.

Seven species occur exclusively on the Pacific portion of America: "C. dasycephalus", "C. fuerthii", "C. hypophthalmus", "C. manglarensis", "C. multiradiatus", "C. steindachneri", "C. taylori", and "C. tuyra".

"Cathorops" includes species of small size, reaching a maximum length of 360 millimetres (14.2 in) TL.
