The Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences , he attended theUniversity of California, Irvine Medical School . He joined the service as a general medical officer for the United States Army and received a bronze star for his service during the Vietnam War. After completing his residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital at UCLA, he began his own private practice.In the mid-80s, Dr. Murad began to notice a shift in priorities for his patients. By 1987, Dr. Murad had developed his first three products under the Murad brand, some of the earliest cosmeceuticals ever to appear on the market: Oily Prone Skin Formula, Skin Smoothing Cream, and Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel. He is credited with initially making aesthetic products formulated with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) widely available to treat the signs of aging and owns 17 patents in the skin health field. As of 2007, Dr. Murad’s company has grown to sixty consumer skincare products, along with many professional-strength treatments for estheticians and dermatologists.
