London Buses route 70 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Metroline.

History

Route 70 was introduced on 2 March 1991 as a Monday to Saturday route running between Acton and Kensington, from the Gold Arrow Westbourne Park Garage using midibuses. On 8 February 1993 the route was extended daytimes to South Kensington, and extended at all times on 14 June 2000 when a Sunday service was also added. June 2000 also saw the contract pass from First to Thorpes from their Wembley Garage. During June 2003, the allocation moved to the new West Perivale Garage. The route is now operated by Metroline, following their purchase and subsequent renaming of Thorpe's during August 2004.

Previous route 70s in London

From July 1951 until November 1988 a Central London to South London route 70 ran as a replacement for a tram route initially running between Greenwich and Waterloo, but latterly between Peckham and Victoria.
