Olympia Archaeological Museum

The Olympia Archaeological Museum is one of the great museums of Greece and houses artifacts found in the archaeological place of Ancient Olympia.

History of the museum

The museum was built opposite the excavation site in a valley northwest of the Kronion hill and was designed by Patroklos Karantinos [ [http://www.grisel.net/olympia_museum.htm The Archeological Museum at Olympia ] ] . The official opening was in 1982One of the most known exhibits is the Nike of Paeonius which is featured as part of the design of the medals of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
