Michael Towke

Towke was preselected as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Australia for the seat of Cook in Southern Sydney in the 2007 Australian Federal election, winning preselection by 82 votes to 70 against Optus executive, Paul Fletcher. However, Towke's candidacy was surrounded by controversy, and on the 3 August, 2007, John Howard and the Liberal Party's State Executive voted not to endorse Towke's Liberal Party candidacy for the seat of Cook, following allegations of branch stacking, falsification of qualifications, political party membership and employment background.
