- Government and Politics
Government and Politics is the title given to a number of advanced secondary
politics courses. 'Government' or 'Politics' might also refer to this course. In theUnited Kingdom it is the name of severalAS and A2 courses and many university degree courses.UK
Background
The course is intended to educate its candidates in how political systems work in both their own cultures and others, the different political ideas present within these societies and how these two schemes of work link synoptically.
The subject is often studied by potential candidates for studying the subject at university level. Many others study it as a stepping stone to working in the civil service or government itself. Because smaller schools and colleges may not be able to offer Government and Politics (as it is a very low-intake course requiring well-trained teachers), universities do not require the course.
