Donna Savarese

Donna Savarese (born December 9, 1967) [1][2] is a two-time Emmy Award winning television journalist and news anchor most recently with KMOV in St. Louis, Missouri, the CBS affiliate. She anchored the 6pm newscast Monday-Friday. Prior to KMOV, Savarese was the weekend anchor and reporter at KIAH in Houston, Texas. Savarese also anchored weeknight newscasts at WJXX in Jacksonville, Florida, WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut and WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts.[3]

Savarese joined KMOV in September 2002 as Anchor/Reporter for "News 4 St. Louis."

Donna Savarese left KMOV in September 2007 to pursue a career in corporate communications in Washington DC. She is currently the Director of Communications for a federal government IT consulting company.

Awards

Donna Savarese is a two-time Emmy award winner. Savarese won her first Emmy for taking viewers behind closed doors to profile an order of cloistered nuns known as the Poor Clares. Savarese won her second Emmy for her profile of Kimora Lee Simmons, the founder of the Baby Phat fashion line. Savarese is the recipient of seven Emmy nominations, including a nomination for "Best On Camera Talent" in 2007, and a nomination in sports for an interview with the St. Louis Cardinals' former batting coach battling an addiciton.

Savarese has also received two Radio and Television News Directors Association Edward R. Murrow Awards. "Remembering Riley", which aired in 2007, profiled a marine killed in the battle for Fallujah. Her second Edward R. Murrow award, entitled "For the Love of Laura," profiled a young husband's commitment to his for his wife who was seriously injured in a car accident.

Education

Savarese is a graduate of Fairfield University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
