UCHRI, or the University of California Humanities Research Institute, is a
University of California , United States, system-wide research program under the UC Office of the President and headquartered at theUC Irvine campus. It promotes collaboration and interdisciplinarity through supporting work by teams of researchers from varying fields both within and outside of the UC system. Through its dedication to "engaging connections," the Institute seeks to address the traditional humanities disciplines such as literature, philosophy, classics, languages, and history in new and innovative ways, as well as the pressing humanistic questions that arise in the social and natural sciences, medicine, and technology. Consequently, one primary focus of the Institution is overcoming and destroying the historic intellectual and institutional barriers separating the humanities from the sciences, technology, and the professions.
