MovieMail are a UK-based DVD retailer. While much of their business is online, they also have many traditional mail-order customers. They publish a monthly film magazine that is distributed to their customers which recommends their pick of the best DVD releases from that month. Editorially, they concentrate less on mainstream film and more on world cinema, classic films, documentaries and other niche areas of film.

History

MovieMail was started by Carol Hunter in 1996. Carol was never a film intellectual, just someone who really loved movies and noticed that most of her favourites were not easy to get on video and many of them were not made in the English Language.

MovieMail's first order was received on July 7 1996 (for Route de Corinthe, The Tin Drum and Le Boucher). At that time Carol lived on the Scottish Hebridean Island of Islay - not the best choice for fast delivery. MovieMail had a web site within 3 months of its start up. The site has expanded with the business.

In Autumn 1997 Carol moved to Hereford in England, taking MovieMail with her.

In 2000 they opened an office in London to house their publication and marketing efforts.

In April 2005 they formed MovieMail Jersey to improve their offering further. Customer Service was still provided by our experienced staff in London.

In April 2006, they consolidated our two offices into MovieMail Towers, situated in Camden Town, North London.
