7 December 1942 byWillamette Iron and Steel Works ,Portland, Oregon ; commissioned10 February 1944 , Lieutenant Commander F. G. Crane,USNR , in command, and reported to theU.S. Pacific Fleet .World War II Pacific Ocean operations
Clearing
San Francisco, California ,21 April 1944 , "Caution" arrived atPearl Harbor 1 May . Until1 August , she escortedconvoys from Pearl Harbor toMajuro andEniwetok ; then sailed toSaipan , arriving25 August . Assigned to theSaipan -Tinian Patrol and Escort Group, "Caution" also guarded convoys to Eniwetok and back to theMarianas . On5 April 1945 , she cleared Eniwetok for Portland, Oregon, and overhaul.Transfer to the Soviet Union
"Caution" arrived at
Cold Bay, Alaska on11 July 1945 to train aRussia n crew. She was decommissioned16 August 1945 , and transferred underlend-lease to theSoviet Union as T-598. She is believed to have been scrapped in1956 . She was reclassified MSF-158 on7 February 1955 , and the U.S. Navy struck her from the Navy List on1 January 1983 .References
