Jan van der Hoeve (
1878-04-13 –1952-04-26 ) was a Dutch ophthalmologist. He is recognised for his concept of thephakomatoses , often called neurocutaneous syndromes.Van der Hoeve was born in Santpoort, near
Velsen . He died inLeiden . He graduated from theUniversity of Leyden and received his doctorate at theUniversity of Bern . He became professor of ophthalmology at theUniversity of Groningen and later the University of Leyden. Van der Hoeve was elected president of the Physical Section of the Royal Dutch Academy of Science in 1932.Papers
