Koji Toyoda was born in Hamamatsu [ [http://www.landesmusikakademie-sachsen-anhalt.de/2004/AnmToyoda_2004engl.pdf|Website] ] in 1934 [ [http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,864825,00.html Time Website] ] . Violinist Toshiya Eto and Koji Toyoda were amongst the first students of the famous educator Shinichi Suzuki after he returned to Japan from studying in Germany. At that time, Koji Toyoda was only three and a half. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. Later, he studied with George Enesco and Arthur Grumiaux. He received the Bach medal of the Harriet Cohen International Music Award in London and also awards at international competitions in Paris, Brussels [ [http://www.suzukimethod.or.jp/English/E_mthd42.html|Suzuki Method Website] ] , [ [http://www.paganini.comune.genova.it/premio_quarta_giugno2002_giurati_eng.htm|] ] and Geneva's Concours International d'Exécution Musicale [2] . He was the concertmaster of the Berlin Radio-Philharmonic Orchestra from 1962 to 1979. He was a professor at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin from 1979 to 2000. He was one of the founder and the first music director of the Kusatsu International Summer Music Academy and Festival, and the director of the Gunma Symphony Orchestra. He assumed the Presidency of the Talent Education Research Institute, aka Suzuki method after Shinichi Suzuki died in 1998. Some of his compositions are published by the Zen-on Music Publishing Co., Japan. [3] [4]
