Kurdish Americans are Americans of Kurdish descent, the majority of Kurdish Americans are recent migrants. Often they are immigrants and political refugees from the countries of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. Although Kurds in the U.S. are more numerous in California (esp. the Los Angeles area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia, the city of Nashville, Tennessee has the United States' largest population of Kurdish people, estimated to be around 11,000.
