OnSeptember 19 ,1986 , Cowley threw ano-hitter for the White Sox with seven walks versus the California Angels in a 7-1 victory. Cowley did not win again in 1986, and after 4 winless starts in 1987, he was released by thePhiladelphia Phillies .
