- J. Storrs Hall
John Storrs Hall is regarded as one of the most significant thinkers in the field of
molecular nanotechnology . He founded the sci.nanotechUsenet newsgroup and moderated it for ten years, and served as the founding chief scientist of Nanorex Inc. for two years. He has written several papers on nanotechnology and developed several ideas such as theUtility fog , the Space Pier and a novel flying car.Dr. Hall is the author of "Nanofuture: What's Next for Nanotechnology" (ISBN 1-59102-287-8), fellow of the Molecular Engineering Research Institute and Research Fellow of the Institute for Molecular Manufacturing.
Hall was also a computer systems architect at the Laboratory for Computer Science Research at
Rutgers University from 1985 until 1997.Though he refers to himself as Josh or JoSH online, his name is not Josh Hall. Josh is a contraction.
Dr. Hall is something of a poet and has composed verse (concerning nanotechnology) in the style of
Dr. Seuss ("How The Schmirk Stole Nanotechnology") andClement Clarke Moore ("A Visit from Saint Assembler"). He is also a fond collector of works by his two favorite authors,H. G. Wells andP.G. Wodehouse .In 2006, the Foresight Nanotech Institute awarded Hall the Feynman Communication prize. [http://www.crnano.org/archive06.htm#45Awards]
